Lieutenant Ruben Flores was born on October 7, 1965 and passed away on January 9, 2021 at the age of 55. He joined the Fire Department June of 1989 and retired  March 2015. He was a lifelong resident of El Paso, devoted family man and a man driven by his faith in god. He began his career as a spirited firefighter in Battalion 2, he promoted to P6 as a Fire Suppression Technician and then through hard work and devotion made Lieutenant on P18. Lieutenant Ruben Flores suffered extensive injuries while on an emergency incident September 29, 2001 that almost ended his career. We were lucky that through his personal strength and support of his family, he was able to return to work and continue his career until retirement from the Logistics division. After his retirement Lieutenant Ruben Flores went on to work with the University of Texas at El Paso and was attending St. Thomas University pursuing his Theology Degree and was looking forward to being ordained later this year. Lieutenant Ruben Flores is survived by his wife of 35 years, Beckie Flores, three children, Garron Flores, Selina Flores, and Ruben S.
