Update: Funeral Directions May 2, 2020
There will be a live-streamed ceremony at 1030.
When the procession arrives at Evergreen East (at 1000 aprox), all vehicles that enter the cemetery will be directed around the perimeter of the grounds and will be required to park and remain in your vehicles while an Honor Ceremony for our brother FST Eduardo Ramirez is conducted on the lawn of Evergreen East. Attendance, by other than family and identified dignitaries, will not be allowed. The event will be live-streamed at http://www.facebook.com/fdaevergreeneast , the El Paso Firewire ( http://www.elpasofirewire.com ), and the El Paso Fire Department Facebook Account ( http://www.facebook.com/elpasofire ). Attendees should remain in their vehicles while viewing the streamed video.
After the end of the ceremony the El Paso Police Department will allow marked units to proceed by to pay their respect to the family. A short blast of the siren will be allowed, but this should be kept to a minimum.
At approximately 12:30 pm Evergreen East will be opened for anyone wanting to pay their respects. This will be a walkthrough the process with no congregating. Social distancing masks will be required.
Funeral arrangements to honor our fallen brother FST Eduardo Ramirez have been set for Saturday, May 2, 2020.
FST Eduardo Ramirez will be escorted from “Del Angel” funeral home located at 3839 Montana at 0900, driven by Station 8 and then proceed to“Evergreen East” funeral Home at 12400 Montana. A small private ceremony will be held for the family at Evergreen East 12400 Montana at 1200 hours.After the ceremony, the funeral parlor at Evergreen East will be opened to walk through traffic for anyone wanting to pay their respects. Social distancing rules and masks will be required.
The route for the procession will begin at 3839 Montana “Del Angel” funeral home proceed west on Montana Ave., head north on Mesa St., east on Baltimore Dr., south on Stanton St., west on Kerbey Ave., south on Mesa St., east on Montana Ave. to 12400 Montana Evergreen East. This route will be escorted by the EL Paso Police Department.

It is with a broken heart that we announce the passing of one of our brothers, FST Eduardo A. Ramirez.
FST Ramirez was with his crew at his Station when he collapsed after performing physical training.
Our hearts and thoughts are with FST Ramirez’s family and friends during this difficult time.
May you Rest In Peace, Sir. Thank you for your service to our community. Even though you might not be physically here anymore, you will continue to live in the hearts of everyone you touched with your kindness. Godspeed.
UPDATE APR 24: The US Fire Administration has informed us that the flags at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial are at half staff today in honor of FST Ramirez.

Statement from the Fire Chief:
The El Paso Fire Department is mourning the loss of one of its own. Fire Suppression Technician Eduardo Ramirez passed away during his assigned shift at Fire Station 8 on Tuesday evening during a physical training exercise session. FST Ramirez was a beloved husband and father who proudly served the citizens of El Paso for 19 years. This is a tragic unexpected loss for his family and the Department. He will be greatly missed. Please keep FST Ramirez’ family in your hearts and minds and join the El Paso Fire Department in honoring his service and dedication to his community.
