Released today during the City Council Meeting was a presumptive positive test that we had come back for one of our own. We have confirmed that this positive test is related to the individuals travel and not an exposure related to department operations. This firefighter was quarantined and tested based on his travel and never reported to work. There was no exposure to fellow firefighters or patients.
We had over 98 firefighters quarantined for travel and are closely monitoring all individuals before allowing them to return to work. As you can tell by the updates in policies and procedures, the Leadership of the El Paso Fire Department is working tirelessly to continue to monitor and make strategic adjustment to ensure the health and safety of every member of the Department.
