Lifeguards Wanted

The City of El Paso is hiring lifeguards for the Parks and Recreations department for both summer seasonal positions and year-round positions. What is the pretest?

  • 300 yd swim (100 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 free or breast)
  • 2 minutes treading water WITHOUT using your hands
  • Swim 20 yds, retrieve a brick from 7ft-10ft underwater and swim on your back without stopping or using your hands

Their staff will assist you in the pretest and then register you for a class.  You may also register online for the class at

**Year-Round positions begin as soon as hired, contracts are annual and we work a minimum of 5 hours to 35 hours weekly. (pending on facility needs and staff availability)

**Summer Seasonal will start soon, but only work a few hours either weekly or biweekly until May. As of May 25th, all staff is in full swing working May 25th – September 14th, hours scheduled to work depend on facility needs and staff availability.

Starting pay is $11.17/hr.
