The Fire Prevention Division will be offering a TCFP Fire Inspector and Plan Examiner class, beginning March 30, 2020, and ending on May 1, 2020. The certification exam is scheduled for May 5, 2020. Classes will be held at Central Fire Station.
The Fire Inspector curriculum is structured to provide students with a clear understanding of the information necessary to satisfy the job performance requirements (JPRs) of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1031: Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Inspector and Plans Examiner, 2014 Edition.
The process of obtaining the Fire Inspector I & II and Plan Examiner I certifications will enhance the participants’ ability to recognize fire code violations and hazards and positively impact the safety of our community.
Class size will be limited to 18 students, composed of 56 and 40-hour personnel. The selection of interested applicants will be based on several factors, including, but limited to, seniority.
Anyone seeking to become a more effective and knowledgable inspector should submit his or her name, rank, seniority number, and assignment/shift to Jessica Cordova, at CordovaJ3@elpasotexas.gov by 1700 hours on February 21, 2020.
