This morning, City Representative, and Mayor Pro Tempore, Claudia Ordaz, issued a proclamation declaring El Paso a Baby Safe Surrender City. As you are aware, Fire Stations are safe surrender points. Anyone may surrender a baby, as long as they are 60 days or younger, at any Fire Station, no questions asked.
This is an effort to avoid people abandoning babies at locations, and in conditions, that could be detrimental to the babies’ health. New signage has been installed at all fire stations and a General Order has been sent out with more details.
