Last Saturday, the American Red Cross and the Fire Department, in partnership with several local groups got out to the streets with the goal of installing more than a 1000 smoke alarms in El Paso.
This event was part of a national campaign from the American Red Cross, in partnership with local Fire Departments, to provide free smoke alarms to their communities. By having a working smoke alarm residents can gain valuable time to evacuate safely in case of a fire.
During the home visits, residents also got to learn about basic fire safety advice and how to create a home evacuation plan.
Remember, if you get asked about smoke alarms, simply point them to alarms.elpasofire.org or 3-1-1 and CRR will take care of it.
