Civilian Citation Medal for 9-year-old student.

On April 26th, the El Paso Fire Department visited Putnam Elementary School for a very special reason.

On April 5th, Luis Garcia, a 9-year-old student, rescued his family from a car in flames.

In light of his brave actions that resulted in the saving of two lives, Luis was recognized with the El Paso Fire Department’s Civilian Citation Award. Chief Dieter, Chief Carson, along with 22’s B shift crews were part of a small but emotional ceremony at the school.

After the ceremony, children had a blast meeting the crews and learning more about the job of a firefighter.
