Houston is looking to El Paso for guidance and help in its effort to increase efficiency for its Dispatch Teams. As you know, EPFD does a pretty good job with dispatch calls. So much that former EPFD Chief Pena, now Houston’s Fire Chief, has tried to implement and integrate our dispatch process in Houston.
We don’t know if they have seen the light in the process yet but we do know that their news media Robert Arnold is out here and is interested in what we’have done so far. They sent a news crew from KPRC 2 Investigates to interview Capt. Candelaria to find out more about the ins and outs of the system and how it works.
“It quite simple, you run through a series of questions and the way the caller answers leads helps the dispatcher choose a path to bring up the call. The system has worked out great with our department.” – Capt. Candelaria declared.
One of the benefits of this system is the constant fine-tuning and adjustment, which allows for a dynamic program that can change to meet the ever-evolving demands of emergency calls.
